Northern Kentuckians have always had an economic and cultural connection to Southwest Ohio. Many Northern Kentucky genealogists typically find at least one ancestor with Buckeye roots.
One of the most useful Ohio genealogy Web sites to utilize for research is the Ohio GenWeb Project. Sponsored by Roots
Web.com, the GenWeb project provides Internet-based resources for each state and county in the country. The Ohio page provides hundreds of links to Ohio based genealogy Web resources, maps, state histories, vital records, databases and other records.
Special sections can be found for African-American genealogy and other ethnic research.
The Ohio Web site also includes links to a number of special projects being sponsored by GenWeb including Ohio cemetery transcription and a Civil War database.
Each county in the state has a Web site containing history and genealogy links and databases. These county Web sites are administered by volunteers who search for new resources and post them for public use.
The Ohio GenWeb Project can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/ ohgenweb/.
