COLUMBUS, Ohio - Jamal Sutton scored in second-half stoppage time and the Columbus Crew broke a six-game winless streak with a 1-0 win over the MetroStars on Wednesday night.
Sutton ran onto a back-heel pass from Marcus Storey and put the ball past goalkeeper Tony Meola in the game's dying moments.
The victory gave Columbus three valuable points in its effort to overtake the MetroStars for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Crew has 18 points to the MetroStars' 25.
The MetroStars were outshot 17-8, but were kept in the game by Meola, who was playing in his first MLS match since last August. …
